2022 Youth Race Guide

2022 Race Guide coming soon.

The triathlon begins with an organized swim in Winona's Family YMCA pool. Distances vary by age and each swimmer is assigned their own lane. Wave starts help keep things organized and safe.

Race Age (as of Dec. 31, 2022)

6-7 25 yards (1 length)

8-9 75 yards (3 lengths)

10-11 100 yards (4 lengths)

12-13 200 yards (8 lengths)

14-15 250 yards (10 lengths)

After exiting the pool through the family locker room, children will be guided directly to Transition area, located behind the YMCA. Athletes will put on their helmets and shoes, before grabbing their bikes. Once on the course, they will ride an out and back loop along Lake Winona. Volunteers will help with directions as the young racers make their way back to transition and onto the run course. Athletes are responsible for keeping track of their laps. A missed lap will result in disqualification. Distance is determined by Race Age (as of Dec. 31, 2022)

Returning from the bike into the transition area athletes with park their bikes and head out onto the run course along Lake Winona. Athletes will race their way toward the finish line after completing their designated distance. Volunteers, refreshments and a finisher medal will greet each and every athlete when they complete their triathlon. Distance is determined by Race Age (as of Dec. 31, 2022).

All finishers receive a beautiful finisher medal, event t-shirt and other giveaways. Stick around post-race for snacks, bounce house, and dance party. Age group awards will be given out for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
