Winona has long been known as one of the best places to bike in the Midwest. With an incredible mix of terrain, from quiet country roads to punishing climbs up the bluffs, Winona and the surrounding areas deliver spectacular cycling for young, old, the recreational and the competitive. That same incredible mix of terrain also makes Winona a mecca for other outdoor enthusiasts, from fishing to camping to paddling and everything in between.
Beyond athletics, Winona has established itself as one of the Midwest’s leading arts community. There are a variety of live theater opportunities that take place, including the Great River Shakespeare Festival, running from June through July each year. The Minnesota Marine Art Museum opened its doors on the banks of the Mississippi and features one of the premier collections of its kind. Winona is also known as the “Stained Glass Capital of the World” and you’ll quickly discover why when you explore the historic downtown of Winona.
